Gardaí are continuing their investigations into the cause of a fatal house fire in South Kilkenny on Sunday evening which claimed the life of a 76-year-old man.
The scene of the fire, at a house on the outskirts of the village of Knocktopher, remains preserved as garda experts continue their examinations. It is understood that investigating gardaí have yet to establish the cause of the fire which broke out between 5pm and 6pm.
A post mortem of the deceased has taken place at Waterford Regional Hospital and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced shortly.
The deceased man has been named locally as Thomas Burke, a married father with adult children, who was well known and well liked locally.
