Gardaí investigate thefts of significant amounts of jewellery

Gardaí in Kilkenny are reiterating their advice to homeowners to keep their valuables secure following a spate of burglaries in recent days.

A private house was targeted overnight at Inchbeg, Freshford on August 10 and 11. The culprit gained entry through smashing a side window and then opening a rear patio door. The house was ransacked and approximately €8,000 worth of jewellery, including a wedding band and a bracelet were stolen.

In a separate incident in Tinneranny in Glenmore a homeowner returned from holidays last Thursday to discover that their property had been burgled and approximately €5,500 worth of jewellery stolen.

Earlier this month a house on the outskirts of Kilkenny City was targeted and €10,000 worth of jewellery stolen.

Gardaí are urging people to photograph and document all valuables and to store them in a safe and secure place.

Anyone with information can contact Kilkenny gardaí on (56) 777 5000.
