Sean Gordan Dalton, Kells Co. Kilkenny; Ben Kirwan, Thomastown Co. Kilkenny; Josh Akaehomen, Kilkenny City; David Hall, Thomastown Co. Kilkenny and Evie Kiely, Kilkenny City, collect their results
There was plenty of reason to celebrate at Kilkenny College today, as the Class of 2018 arrived to collect their Leaving Certificate results.
Incredibly, two thirds of the year group attained 400 Points or higher, which is well in excess of the national average. Three of the four students who attained in excess of 600 points are from Kilkenny: Anna Dowley from Piltown (pictured), Sophie Tracey from Ennisnag and David Hull from Thomastown.
Principal Simon Thompson said that an average CAO Points score of 442 Points per student for a year group of 129 is 'absolutely outstanding'.
"We are incredibly pleased for and proud of every single member of the Class of 2018’,he said.
"The students worked hard with their teachers right throughout senior cycle and they have reaped the benefits today. This is a day of worthy celebration for all the students.

"On behalf of the Boards and staff I say ‘well done’ to each one of them. I am confident the vast majority of the year will achieve their first or second CAO choice. I wish all our students every future success and they move forward with their lives," said Mr Thompson.
