Rory and Laura Gannon
Cakeface Patisserie in Irishtown have become one of the first cafes in Kilkenny to introduce compostable single-use cups to their business. Husband and wife team Laura and Rory Gannon are sourcing their environmentally friendly packaging from Irish company ‘Zeus Packaging’ who recently hit the headlines when they introduced the revolutionary new sustainable single-use cup product line.
Joining a host of big brand names nationally, Cakeface will now play an important part in preventing more than 19 million coffee cups ending up in Irish landfills every year.
Laura Gannon of Cakeface Patisserie says “ This has been an investment as the cost of our new sustainable packaging is higher than the traditional non-environmental friendly cups. However, it is one which we are more than happy to make as it is very much in line with the ethos of what we do in Cakeface. Our customers have really appreciated it and we feel good knowing that we are playing our part in protecting the environment.”
Having first met while pursuing their love of food, Laura and Rory Gannon have since travelled the world perfecting their craft, the art of patisserie. Their backgrounds in Finance and Chemical Engineering are evident with the precision, flair and acumen that they bring to their business.
Two Years ago, they opened Cakeface Patisserie in Irishtown and a year later their second premises in Irishtown the product laboratory followed. The café is now a firm favourite with locals of all ages and a pleasant surprise for the bustling tourist trade of Kilkenny City who stumble upon Cakeface while exploring the medieval mile.www.cakefacepastry.com
