Taste Kilkenny Food Producers Association was setup in 2017 to promote and market Kilkenny food producers. The message: Eat local Kilkenny produce.
This year the association has worked on two projects. The first is a ‘Local Produce, Food & Beverage Directory’ to tell chefs about the wealth of produce available locally.
The directory was delivered to pubs, restaurants, hotels and cafes by hand. The enthusiasm of Kilkenny’s chefs has been tremendous.
The second project was to deliver the Hero Buyer Award for a second year.
The Taste Kilkenny Food Producers Hero Buyer Awards were introduced in 2017 to acknowledge the support of local commercial food and beverage buyers. Award winners are selected based on a democratic vote by members of the association and winners announced with 32 nominated by 19 producers.
This year’s winners are: Zuni Restaurant, Patrick Street; O’Brien Butcher’s Market Yard, Kilkenny; The Little Green Grocer Parliament St. Kilkenny.
The Taste Kilkenny Food Producers Association Committee members: Rob Mosse, chairman; Julie Calder-Potts, secretary; Helen Murphy, Treasurer and Sarah Mulhall, Coordinator.
