Kilkenny to get new city centre hotel

Will be on river as part of Abbey Quarter vision

Hotel project is subject to planning

Location of new Abbey Quarter hotel next to the existing Tea House by the River Nore at Bateman Quay

A new boutique hotel is a new, exciting part of the Abbey Quarter project in the centre of the city.

It will be located on the river front and will have around 100 bedrooms. It will link in with the linear park planned for the former Smitchwicks brewery site. It will bring more jobs and more tourists to the city.

It will be sited close to the existing Tea House on Bateman Quay with access from the Market Yard.

It comes after a Failte Ireland report last week highlighted the need for many more hotel bedrooms in the city to cope with the growing number of tourists coming here.

The project will have to be passed by members and will require planning.
