No 'floating traffic warden' for Thomastown

No parking

Parking in residential areas annoying locals

Rules for parking in Thomastown are to stay the same.

At the January meeting of Kilkenny city municipal district committee Cllr Patrick O’Neill asked if Thomastown would get a ‘floating’ parking warden at certain times of the day.

Director of Services Tim Butler said  they did not have a budget for a ‘floating’ traffic warden in Thomastown. To do so they would have to consider introducing parking charges in the town.

Cllr Breda Gardiner appealed for a path on the road to the Thomastown United sports ground. The club has 800 members and children are training every night of the week; there are women walking with buggies during day, she said, highlighting the dangers of the road.

“I’m beseeching, please can we have a footpath as a matter of necessity.”
