The creation of 150 jobs by Kilkenny-based company Gaeltac is  another huge vote of confidence in the city, the county and the region as a whole according to Fine Gael TD, John Paul Phelan.

"Gaeltec continues to build its reputation as a fantastic company with massive career progression prospects.

"This is another very good news day for Kilkenny and this announcement is fantastic news for local graduates and others with skills in engineering, design and other more who might be working in Dublin  and elsewhere and want to enjoy all that Kilkenny and the south east have to offer in terms of quality of life and being a great place to live and work."

Gaeltec provides specialist contracting support to public and private companies rolling out or upgrading energy and telecoms infrastructure and networks across Ireland. The company is currently working on several strategic electricity transmission, distribution and fibre broadband projects. These include working with SIRO, the joint venture between ESB and Vodafone, on the roll-out of the next phase of its fibre broadband network across Ireland.
