“Plough Thru The City” Down Syndrome Kilkenny - Sunday, December 11 PICTURE: Vicky Comerford
Threecastles GAA Club has launched its forthcoming Plough Thru the City Tractor, Truck and Vintage Car Run.
This event will take place late afternoon on Sunday, December 11 through Kilkenny City. The tractors, trucks and vintage vehicles will be lit up with Christmas lights, and there is a financial prize for the best decorated vehicle.
Registration for the event takes place in Chancellors Mills (thanks to the Dalton family) on the Freshford Road from 2pm-3.45pm costing just €20. There will also be the option to have a Dyno Rod test done on your tractor. The service is being provided by Eardly Agricultural Services.
Down Syndrome Kilkenny has been chosen as one of the main beneficiaries of Plough Thru the City, and all the funds received this year will go towards speech therapy for their members. Children with Down Syndrome commonly have delayed speech, language and communication skills in comparison to their typically developing peers. Early intervention is important for these children, and speech therapy is at the core of this.
The Down Syndrome Kilkenny branch are delighted to receive this funding as it allows their children to receive much needed therapies without barriers or worries for their families. Threecastles GAA Club are thrilled to support Down Syndrome Kilkenny and are asking the public to support this very exciting event.
There will be collectors all along the route from the Castlecomer Road, John Street, Rose Inn Street and all the way through to Irishtown. Please remember to bring cash.
There is an allocated area for children and adults with sensory difficulties from Parliament Street to Irishtown and the participants will be asked to turn off their vehicle lights and not blow their horns. They will of course leave their Christmas lights on.
Threecastles GAA Club are very appreciative of the support of Total Highway Management, Kilkenny County Council and An Garda Siochana who have made this event possible.
