Garda who has served with distinction in Kilkenny retires

Yesterday, gardaí marked the retirement of Sergeant Gary Gordon.

Gary was attested on the 16th January 1992 and has served as a Garda in Dundalk and Kilkenny.

Upon promotion Gary took up a position a Sergeant in Thurles Garda Station before returning to Kilkenny.

He has supervised the Community Policing and Roads Policing Unit over the past number of years.

As well as his garda service, Gary has distinguished himself in his sterling and indeed award winning work for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

He intends on maintaining his involvement with this superb charitable organisation.

"We wish Gary, a proud Waterford man all the best in the future as he takes on brand new challenges," a garda spokesperson said.
