William Egan
The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) has honoured William Egan MIACP with its South East Regional Award.
William Egan, who is from Mullinahone and has practiced in Kilkenny City for 20 years, has worked extensively in the field of counselling and psychotherapy and has demonstrated a commitment to many aspects of the profession, including supervision and education.
He has been recognised particularly for his work with adolescents, contributions to the ethics of counselling, and commitment to voluntary organisations.
Mr Egan was first accredited with the IACP in 2002.
IACP Cathaoirleach Séamus Sheedy congratulated Mr Egan on his award, hailing him for ‘the many outstanding contributions he has made to the counselling and psychotherapy profession’.
“William has engaged in extensive voluntary work with multiple organisations throughout the South East Region, in particularly in the Kilkenny/ Carlow area,” Mr Sheedy said. “He has actively demonstrated his commitment to ensuring the provision of counselling supports to a significant number of charitable organisations such as Carlow’s Women’s Aid and Teac Tom.”
Mr Egan has provided continuing support in the critical field of adolescent counselling and provides professional workshops on this topic.

He gives support to a variety of schools in Kilkenny and works with the Youth Counselling Service in Carlow. His commitment to education and the professional nature of counselling/psychotherapy is also shown in his work as a lecturer with both SETU and PCI College.
Mr Egan said he felt privileged to accept the award.
“I feel very fortunate and privileged to be the 2022 IACP South-East Region regional award recipient, I warmly express my gratitude to all those in SERC for nominating me.”
The awards ceremony was at the IACP’s seventh annual conference at the Galway Bay Hotel.
