Restoration works completed on South Kilkenny church

From this week's Kilmacow Notes

KILKENNY

The chu after the restoration work

Restoration works on the Church (dating from the 12th /13th Century) have been completed.

The next phase of the work will treatment of the trees which are damaging gravestones and railings in graveyard. A tree surgeon will carry out this work in January.

Separately, Kilkenny County Council has engaged planning consultants Turley to create a masterplan for Kilmacow, providing a blueprint to ensure it can remain a thriving settlement long into the future. As part of this work, the consultants want to hear the views of local people on what they think makes Kilmacow a good place in which to live and on what would make it even better.

The results of these questions will directly inform the first phase of the work to develop a new masterplan for Kilmacow. A workshop will take place in Kilmacow Community Centre from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Friday, January 20.

This will be an opportunity for everyone to find out more about the project, meet the project team and provide their views on how Kilmacow should develop. For more information and to register for the workshop, please visit www.kilmacowmasterplan.ie or call the Freephone consultation number: 1800-010101 or Email: contact@kilmacowmasterplan.ie
