Interview techniques

Body language is important in every scenario in life and plays a very important part in how you come across as a person. Using confident body language in the work place or at an interview can help you make the very best impression of yourself.

More importantly, when you practice positive body language, you're sending messages to your brain to reinforce positive, confident feelings. Confident body language actually makes you feel more confident.

Eye contact
This is one that many nervous people struggle with.

Eye contact suggests you are engaging, and approachable. It gives a sense of engagement to the person you are dealing with and makes them feel listened to.

BUT KEEP IN MIND too much eye contact can send the signal you have zoned out or maybe you are even a little strange!!

If you feel uncomfortable making eye contact, start to get comfortable by practicing with family and friends, and then bring it to the work place.

Smiling
According to several studies, smiling can trick your brain into feeling happy, even when you feel sad or aggravated. I like to call this fake smiling! After you smile you face holds a more softened look. So the next time something gets to you, show the pearly whites and see how you feel.

Posture
Good posture reflects an air of confidence to others. When you stand straight, with your shoulders back and head held high, you look self-assured and poised.

When you enter a room of people or a meeting, correct your posture before you walk in the room.

Stop fidgeting
Fidgeting, like twirling your hair, shaking your foot, or biting your nails, is an obvious sign of anxiety and nervousness. These nervous movements draw attention away from what you're saying and distract people from your message. Fidgeting sends the message loud and clear that you aren't self-assured.

When you feel the urge to fidget and have nervous energy, take a few deep, calming breaths and fake smile, it will help you relax.
