Plans for a new boardwalk at Green's Bridge to link the Linear Park and the Riverside Park in Kilkenny city are likely to be submitted this summer.
Kilkenny County Council Senior Engineer Tony Lauhoff provided the update at this month's meeting of local councillors.
He stated that design consultants are currently drawing up plans for the boardwalk.
It is expected that the planning application will be submitted directly to An Bord Pleanála.
The boardwalk will form part of the overall Abbey Quarter Masterplan.
