Press Up hospitality group have been identified as the group behind plans to build a landmark new seven-storey hotel in the heart of Kilkenny City.
The news was confirmed by The Sunday Times, who place the value of the proposed hotel at €40 million.
Other Press Up properties include the Clarence Hotel, the Dean Hotel, the Dean Hotel (Cork), the Devlin Hotel and the Mayson Hotel.
The proposed hotel site, on lands south of MacDonagh Junction Train Station, is currently used as a 45-space car park.
CIÉ are the owners of the site and had been seeking to develop the site in recent years, previously inviting interested parties to bid in a tender process back in 2019.
99 en-suite bedrooms are planned, alongside a ground floor restaurant and bar, hotel foyer and reception, gym, a first floor function room, meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace and a fifth floor bar/restaurant with outdoor terraces and balcony.
Also included in the plans is a sixth floor outdoor swimming pool area, a bar/restaurant with outdoor terrace, a public plaza along the west of the site and a vehicle set down area along the Dublin Road.
