Customers have criticised Bank of Ireland after its online services crashed on Tuesday, leading to people in Kilkenny and across the country withdrawing or transferring more money than they had in their accounts.
Reports have emerged of people with insufficient funds transferring up to €1000 from Bank of Ireland to their Revolut accounts during the glitch.
Members of the Gardaí were called upon to patrol ATMs and disperse crowds on the evening.
The bank released a statement on Wednesday sincerely apologising to its customers for the disruption caused and confirmed customers would have to repay withdrawn money that wasn't in their account.
In Kilkenny, a number of people gathered at the Bank of Ireland's ATMs on High Street.
