To celebrate World Car Free Day (Friday, September 22), Bolt is partnering with Kilkenny County Council to offer a free taster of the company’s electric bike rental service to new and existing users.
World Car Free Day aims to enable people to experience streets free of motor traffic and is the culmination of European Mobility Week (16-22 September).
Bolt’s eBike initiative is intended to help this by encouraging more people into this fast growing form of active travel and away from short car journeys.
The offer is valid for two 20 minute trips so users can get where they need to go - and back again.
It can be redeemed by inputting ‘WORLDCARFREEDAY’ into the ‘Promotions’ tab of the Bolt app from midnight on September 21.
The Bolt service already has an affordable €0.18 per minute charge and no unlock fee, making it a popular alternative during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Research from Bolt revealed that over half (54%) of the Irish population saw the overall expense of running a car as a good reason to give theirs up.
More specifically, 52% mentioned rising fuel costs as a motivating factor.
It is worth noting this research was conducted before the recent price increases - the platform expects these figures to now be even higher as a result.
