Kilkenny Volunteer Centre has cause for celebration this week after it achieved the national Quality Standard Award.

The Quality Standard Award marks the successful achievement of 12 quality standards which are included in the Quality Standards Framework developed by Volunteer Ireland.

The framework covers the entire work of a Volunteer Centre including governance standards, management and administration as well as the core day-to-day work of supporting volunteers to get involved in their communities and supporting local organisations to develop quality volunteer opportunities and implement best practice in volunteer management.

Achievement of the award involved a very  rigorous review process which was carried out over a two-year period to ensure that the standards of quality service delivery are sustainable and continuously upheld.

The Quality Standard Award was formally presented to Kilkenny Volunteer Centre by CEO of Volunteer Ireland Nina Arwitz yesterday, 9th November, at a celebration event in the Volunteer Centre.

Ms Arwitz told the Kilkenny People that the network of 29 volunteer centres around the country is unique in the way it embraces quality standards. They are always looking at what works and how they can do things better.

Paul Collins, Outcomes and Impacts manager with Volunteer Ireland, said the process was a collaborative one and praised the local office for embedding a quality service culture in their operation.

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the National Quality Standard Award in Kilkenny Volunteer Centre.  As a relatively young service established in 2021, the team in Kilkenny Volunteer Centre were incredibly committed  to embedding a culture of quality assurance and continuous improvement in our work from the very outset," said Salena Grace, manager of Kilkenny Volunteer Centre.
