Get ready for Kilkenny City’s first ever GOAL Mile!

2022 was the Biggest GOAL Mile ever, Let’s make 2023 even better again!

 AIB Kilkenny are leading Kilkenny City’s first ever Goal Mile Event on Friday, December 8, at 1pm in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle.  They are encouraging all members of the community to join them for it, spread the word and  support this great cause.  

On the day you'll be joined by AIB Goal Mile Ambassador Eoin Cody along with Goal representatives, a local boys choir to add some festive spirit, KCLR Radio and a visit from the Mayor.  People will have the opportunity to complete their AIB Goal Mile in the glorious grounds of Kilkenny Castle thanks to the OPW and the team at the Kilkenny Castle and finish up with tea/coffee and treat from Dore’s Coffee Shop on the castle grounds.

 Now in its third year, AIB is the title sponsor of the GOAL Mile. A hugely popular Christmas event that helps transform lives in the world's most vulnerable communities.  With AIB's support, the 2022 event received record donations of over €420K, making the 2022 GOAL Mile the biggest one to date, with over 25,000 participants in over 145 locations nationwide.

AIB is committed to working with GOAL again this year to make 2023 the biggest GOAL Mile yet. We are encouraging people across the country to take part in the GOAL Mile this Christmas, helping raise funds to alleviate the impact of climate change, crises, and poverty in vulnerable communities around the world.

This Christmas, we’re looking for people to Step Up Together and walk, jog, run, stroll or race your 2,000 steps (four laps of a GAA pitch!) to help vulnerable communities in the 14 countries where GOAL works. Get involved in your local community and Step Up Together to help in our efforts to support sustainable communities. Together we can make a real difference!

With the generous support of AIB Group, AIB customers, and AIB staff, in the past year GOAL teams have reached 14.6 million people in 14 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Ukraine with vital humanitarian support. 

This includes:

• Improving the food and nutrition security of 1.9 million vulnerable people. In particular, GOAL works with Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, to sustainably increase the scale of climate-smart food production and linkages to market.
• Supporting over 8.2 million people to have resilient health, including increasing access to clean drinking water for over 3.6 million people. GOAL stabilises and strengthens systems at local and district levels in remote, fragile, and conflict affected contexts. By supporting local health systems to become more resilient, they are better able to provide accessible, affordable, and accountable health and nutrition services to vulnerable populations who need it most.

• Supporting over 2.2 million people with emergency response and preparedness. This work is conducted in some of the world’s most challenging and fragile contexts - including Colombia, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Niger, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Zimbabwe, and Ukraine.
• Ensuring over 600,000 people have sustainable livelihoods. GOAL partners with climate-smart actors to ensure agriculture/aquaculture practices and strategies of vulnerable communities are tailored to the demands of a changing climate.
