An orange weather warning will come into place at 5pm today in Kilkenny with people advised to stay indoors where possible.
Storm Isha will bring very strong southwest winds with severe and damaging gusts.
Very difficult travelling conditions are expected along with fallen trees and damage to power lines.
The warning remains in place until 2am tomorrow.
A status yellow wind warning is from 11am this morning for the whole country.
