Members of Kilkenny’s Malayali community came together to celebrate the new year and festive season, in the city recently.
The Kilkenny Malayali Association (KMA), which is one of the leading Indian Associations in Ireland in terms of attendance and membership, organised Christmas and New Year celebrations this year, like every year.
At the opening ceremony for the Christmas New Year’s Eve celebration, held at the O’Loughlins GAA Club Hall, Kilkenny County Councilor Cllr. Joe Lyon was the guest of honor and Reverend Malayali priest Rev Fr. Godfrey Perera was the special guest.
Celebrations
On that day there was a Christmas carol singing competition, a cake making competition and various art programs for children and adults were held.
This was followed by a musical feast by Dublin’s famous musical band Blue Diamonds.
Association Vice President Jomi Jose, Secretary Roy Varghese, Treasurer Savi Shaji, PRO Anil Joseph Ramapuram, other committee members Tony Martin, Pradesh Sebastian, Raveesh Vembalath and youth representatives Melvin Benny and Jincy Babu presided over the programme.
KMA Reels
In the ‘KMA Reels Competition 2023’ which was conducted through the association’s Facebook page from the month of November, the association’s excellent artist participated and the competition was a huge success.
