Kilkenny  to combine heritage and wellness at local parkrun

National Heritage Week, which runs from Saturday, August 17 to Sunday, August 25 is this year aiming to focus on engaging communities in the appreciation and preservation of our cultural and natural heritage.

As part of the week's celebrations, Kilkenny people are encouraged to take part in the local parkrun which will explore the rich history surrounding the Kilkenny Castle grounds.

Locally, the Kilkenny parkrun offers you the unique experience of running within the grounds of one of Ireland’s most iconic castles. Built in the 12th century, Kilkenny Castle has a rich history and beautiful parklands perfect for exploring. After your parkrun, enjoy a guided tour of the castle to delve into its storied past.
