Works continue to progress on the Lacken Boardwalk in Kilkenny City with approximately 75% of the works now completed.
According to the local authority, "the wet summer and subsequent poor ground conditions delayed the completion date by
a number of weeks."
Despite this, Kilkenny County Council are 'confident that this new bespoke piece of amenity infrastructure will be opened in time for the Christmas break'.

The cross-section width of the new boardwalk is 3.6m compared to the 1.2m width of the original structure and is being constructed using 100% recycled plastic components.
The works are being carried out to a very high standard and will see an investment of c.€800,000 - funded in part under the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme and the Council’s own funds.
