Kilkenny gardaí have asked parents NOT to drop off teenagers attending next Friday's (January 17) Fusion Ball, too early, to avoid exposing them to 'to likely harm'.
Posting to social media, a garda spokesperson said: "Pegasus Night Club will host a Fusion Ball at 8.30pm. Doors will open at 8.15pm and it finishes at 11.30pm. This ALCOHOL FREE EVENT never causes any difficulties at the premises as it is well run with multiple stewards and security," the post read.
"Unfortunately however, many of those attending will be dropped into Kilkenny up to three hours earlier. Why?
"To go drinking with their friends, underage, at places like the Parade, the Old Library, Michael Street and the Canal," the spokesperson added.

"These are 14 to 16 year old CHILDREN being dropped into town to get DRUNK. They are at risk of accident, assault or assaulting someone else.
"Your Job is simple, and yes we make no apologies for saying it, is to not expose your kids to likely harm.
"Please share this message and help us help keep your kids safe," the post concluded.
