The Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) held their spring seminar on Thursday, January 30 and Friday, January 31 in the Kilford Arms Hotel on John Street, with a number of special guest speakers attending including, former Fine Gael TD and broadcaster, Ivan Yates.
LAMA is a representative body made up of 31 city and county councillors from the 31 local authorities across the country with each council electing one representative to the group.
Its role is to give a voice to councillors and endeavors to assist local representatives garner skills in order for them to carry out their local authority duties to the best of their ability.

Kilkenny is represented by Fianna Fáil councillor and former mayor of the city, Joe Malone. Mr Malone has been involved in local politics since 2009.
Over the course of the two day event, Terry Clune (Taxback) and Joe Connolly (Connolly’s Red Mills) were among the high-profile contributors who recounted their rise to prominence in the world of commerce and offered their perspectives on society today, both from a business and personal perspective.
