Kilkenny residents fearful over speeding on busy city road

Cllr Eugene McGuinness has expressed worry on behalf of residents in Kennyswell in Kilkenny City, who are fearful of speeding issues in the area upon completion of road resurfacing works.

Works on the R695 Kennyswell Road resumed from its junction with Dominic Street to its junction with the Ballycallan/Circular Road Roundabout last week following a tragic accident where a man in his 60s died while working on the local road.

"Because of the excellent job that’s being done on the Kennyswell Road, they’re afraid there’ll be a speeding issue," he commented, stating, "it is a concern."

In response, Stan Cullen confirmed a speed survey would be completed.

The well-known city street links the highly populated St Canice’s Parish of the city to the Ballycallan Road and Kilcreene Hospital and has been under the microscope for well over a decade due to heavy traffic congestion.
