Decision made on plans for continued use of popular car park in Kilkenny

A submission on behalf of the Kilkenny City Centre Business Association stated that the 'car park is vital to the trade of the city centre for a variety of reasons'

Decision made by council on continued use of popular car park in Kilkenny

Permission has been granted for the continuous use of the previously permitted 103 temporary car parking spaces at the Desart Court car park in Kilkenny City.

The parking spaces are for public use and operate with a barrier system.

A submission on behalf of the Kilkenny City Centre Business Association stated that the 'car park is vital to the trade of the city centre for a variety of reasons'.

Their submission also highlighted the importance of the car park for women (who prefer this car park from a security point of view) and older people (who prefer this carpark for mobility reasons as it's all one level).

The permission for the continued use of 103 space car park shall be for a period of 3 (three) years from date of grant of permission (July 8, 2025).
