'Significant step' taken in the development of Kilkenny Airfield

Kilkenny People Archive 1970 - Kilkenny's Airport is now to be developed by a private company.

Club secretary, Mr. Pat Nolan said that £25,000 would be needed to complete phase one of the project. This would include the purchase of the 60 acres held at Holdersrath.

The construction of a cross strip, the installation of radio and navigation facilities and refueling facilities are amongst the plans.

Mr Nolan said it was the intention of the company to "develop the airport to take aircraft in the 20, 30, and even 40 passenger range," adding, "a significant step in the development of the airfield had been finalised.
