LATEST: Local surge in housing projects across County Kilkenny

The local surge in housing projects shows no signs of abating with project applications being lodged and the construction of projects taking place across Kilkenny City and County.

In the city, MJ McGuinness has applied to Kilkenny County Council for planning permission for a proposed residential development to consist of 24 apartments, private open space amenity and car parking on O’Loughlin Road.

Existing buildings on the frontage of O’Loughlin Road are unaffected.

In North Kilkenny, Althorp Property Holdings Limited have applied to Kilkenny County Council for planning permission for a new residential development of 20 new dwellings on Barrack Street, Donaguile in Castlecomer.

The proposed development falls within the curtilage of Donaguile House, a protected structure RPS reference C507.

A decision will be made by Kilkenny County Council on both applications in the coming weeks. 

he decision timeline(s) may be extended if further information is sought. 

Meanwhile, in further positive news on the housing front, residents are continuing pick up their keys for their new 'forever homes' at the Crokers Hill housing development.

Amongst those moving in are members of the community with special needs who are integrating well with other residents in the vibrant new estate.
