Kilkenny People Archive 1970 - Do You Remember this Controversy?
Allegations of public fornication, nudity, drug taking, pilfering, assault, desecration, gross drunkenness, urinating into private letter boxes and many other forms of anti-social behaviour, were levelled at the Kilkenny Beer Festival in a castigating attack at a public meeting in the city.
The festival, however, was also defended and there were pleas for a rational assessment of the event and co-operation to ensure that there would not be a repeat if another festival is held.
