South Leinster Citizens Information Service/Carlow and Kilkenny area has welcomed the launch of the first ever national CIS Strategy, 'Connecting Citizens'.
Minister Dara Calleary TD launched the Citizens Information Service (CIS) new Strategy 2025–2027, placing enhanced face-to-face services at the core of its mission at an event in Buswell’s Hotel, Dublin on Tuesday 12 November.
The new strategy responds to growing demand for in-person support, which saw the Citizens Information service nationally contacted by over 2.2 million people for information and support since 2020.

CIS national spokesperson Diarmaid O’Sullivan, commented: “People are at the centre of everything we do, and this new strategy is a clear commitment to maintaining that essential face-to-face community service. Our network of 90 centres is vital for providing that trusted, human connection.”
As digital public services expand (including MyGov.ie, MyRevenue, and SUSI), a core aim of the strategy is to empower people who may be digitally excluded. The CIS will actively assist clients in-person with the skills and information they need to access and navigate these services online, effectively bridging the digital divide.
