The Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit of An Garda Síochana carried out an operation in Kilkenny City up to lunchtime today (Wednesday) targeting mobile phone offences.
In total 20 fixed charge notices were issued to motorists who were talking, texting, scrolling and navigating while holding their phones. This amounts to 60 penalty points issued accompanied by fines.

Furthermore, an uninsured motorist had his 'recently' purchased car (bought on December 5th and not insured since) seized with a court date to follow.
