Claire Foley has called time on a four decade career at the heart of Loughboy in Kilkenny City
Last week marked the end of an era for one local post-office and supermarket as they bid a ‘bittersweet goodbye’ to a ‘fantastic friend and colleague.’
Claire Foley, who worked in the old L&N supermarket in Loughboy for many years, made the transition to the shopping centre’s post office when it opened its first in-house counter.
Forty years later, much has changed, but Claire has remained a constant familiar and friendly face to the thousands of people she has greeted over the decades.
“Working with you has been an absolute privilege,” SuperValu Loughboy posted online.
“Thank you for being such an incredible part of our team. Your hard work, kindness, and guidance have meant the world to the Management and staff.
“We’re grateful for the years we got to work alongside you and wish you nothing but relaxation, joy, and adventure in your well-deserved retirement!,” the post added.
“The post office won't be the same without you.
“Thank you for everything, Claire—you will be missed.”
