Kilkenny gardaí stop motorist for no insurance - but discovered a lot more

Kilkenny garda's instinct on 'suspicious' driver valid as major discoveries made
A garda who trusted their instinct made some significant discoveries after stopping a motorist in Kilkenny recently.
"Last Friday, following some serious binging in our ANPR car, one of our RPU lads made a stop for no insurance," a garda spokesperson said.
"As he processed the motorist he became somewhat suspicious that the driver might have consumed something a little illegal.
"After appropriate legal demands, a swab for drugs was taken and a few minutes later the device indicated the presence of cannabis and cocaine.
"Arrest followed and a meeting with a visiting doctor who took the necessary blood sample. We await these but in the meantime our client's vehicle came back as suspect for a fuel drive off in Waterford."
Finishing their statement, local gardaí concluded: "The moral of the story, sometimes you're better off walking."
