Two familar faces in Kilkenny life were at the heart of the festivities at Killarney Racecourse on Friday

Seven-time All-Ireland medal winner with Kilkenny, TJ Reid traded the hurling field for the racing track on Friday as he joined wife Niamh de Brún on the judging panel for the Best Dressed competition at Killarney Races.

The Shamrocks clubman was a special guest alongside de Brún as the couple cast their eyes over the fashion stakes, picking out the standout looks from racegoers at one of Ireland's most popular summer racing festivals.

This season has been disappointing for Reid in a Kilkenny jersey, with the county bowing out in the Leinster round-robin in May.

Now, with fellow club legend Henry Shefflin replacing Derek Lyng as team-manager, speculation is rife as to whether TJ will return for a 20th season.

“Today is a different day for myself. I don't usually get invited to these things, but my wife Niamh is a fashion icon, so I got dragged along,” Reid told Racing TV.

The seven-time All-Star recipient also praised the growing interest in men's fashion.

"Over the last couple of years, men's fashion has gone to a different level. Men are looking to dress up, look better and take better care of themselves."
