Eight-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Eddie Brennan has joined the Westmeath senior hurling coaching team for 2027.

Westmeath manager Kevin O’Brien has brought the Graigue-Ballycallan clubman into the fold alongside Offaly’s Adrian Clancy and strength and conditioning coaches Rory Fleming and Kevin O’Brien.

The Lake County are aiming to return to the Leinster Championship via the Joe McDonagh Cup for the first time since 2023.

Brennan was a forwards coach in Derek Lyng’s backroom team last year, with the season ultimately ending in disappointment for the Cats as they bowed out of the Leinster Championship round-robin following a defeat to Dublin at Parnell Park.

Aside from his successful playing career, the former corner-forward previously guided Laois to a famous Joe McDonagh Cup title and a historic preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final upset against Dublin in 2019.
