THE PARADE will be transformed into a Winter wonderland for the month of December when the Kilkenny Christmas Markets return by popular demand.
The enchanting yuletide event will see a variety of traders selling a range of Christmas gifts, seasonal food and stocking fillers. To add to the festive atmosphere, there will be carol singers and musical entertainment on hand on selected days to perform a feel good selection of Christmas favorites. There will also be daily childrens storytellins, childrens festive workshops, a Christmas choir and lots more. The Christmas market is also taking part in the St.Vincent De Paul Toy Appeal, you can bring unwrapped and new presents with you to our collection point where the toys will be distributed as part of the National campaign. The market runs from December 1-23.
The market traders are Baurnafea Willow Works and Ceramics, Wildwood Toys, Little Hill Design Handmade Wooden Kitchen Accessories, Indulge Bakery Christmas Baked Goods, John Fox Woodturning, Knockdrinna Cheese, Sunrose Garden Natural Skincare, Laura McNamara Ceramics, Cupcake Couture, Mira Ecuador Knitwear, Slate Creations Gifts, Anim Do Handmade Name Plaques, Rathlin Knitwear, Nefarious Metal Design, Alura Crafts and Knitwear, Stradbally Jewellery, Marys Home-made Chocolate Fountain, Macs Cookies, Elm Farm Venison Burgers, Coffee Express, Indigo Craft, O’Keeffe Sports, Paws Animal Rescue, Traditional Sweets, Ormonde Hotel, Magnetic Balance, ‘Create’ at the Kilkenny Enterprise Board and Maria Dulka Crafts.
The Christmas markets official tree lighting ceremony will take place Saturday, December 1 at 4pm and Mayor Seán Ó hArgáin will light up the beautiful Christmas tree. Other free events include a performance by the Kilkenny Brass Band on December 22 at 3pm, the Nore Valley Farm every Saturday from 11am to 4pm, Mrs Claus Cabin with Storytelling every Saturday and Sunday at 12.30pm and 3pm, the Tukolo Choir on December 15 at 3pm, Soulful Spirit on December 16 and Glendinning Trio Singers. Other fun events include a Kids Christmas Karaoke on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm and 2pm on Saturdays and Decorate a Gingerbread Man all day Saturday and Sunday.
