Kilkenny City will come alive on the May bank holiday weekend thanks to the Kilkenny Roots festival boasting over 100 gigs, 75 of them for free.
The programme was launched tonight at the Smithwicks Experience were the chairman of Kilkenny City Vintners, Brendan Treacy paid tribute to one of the organisers, Willie Meighan who couldn't be present as he convalesces from surgery.
Festival founder John Cleeere thanked Smithwicks and all the other sponsors and reminded patrons that ticket sales for the 25 charge for gigs were important to the ongoing success of the festival now in its 20th year.
