The Heritage Council’s Community-led Village Design Statement Toolkit was recognised with an award recently at the IPI National Planning Awards.
The Irish Planning Institute’s National Planning Awards seek to recognise and celebrate outstanding planning achievements at all levels. The awards were held in Dublin Castle on February 21.
The Heritage Council’s Community-Led Village Design Statements Toolkit won the ‘Innovative Planning Practices and Procedures Award’. The Toolkit was also commended in the overall National Award.
The aim of the toolkit, which is the first of its kind in Ireland, is to empower and enable communities to create and implement their own Village Design Statement.
It is a practical resource with a step-by-step guide (and includes useful tips, lessons learned and checklists to assist communities in developing their own VDS.
The Heritage Council is based in Kilkenny, at the old Bishop’s Palace.
