The cold weather is here – and that means the return of ice skating in Kilkenny.
Kilkenny On Ice will return to The Hub at Cillín Hill on November 30 and run daily until January 20. New additions this year include bungee trampolines, rodeo reindeers, an ice slide and a toddlers’ play area.
At 600 quare metres, the ice rink is among the largest in Ireland, and the 30-metre ice slide is also made with real ice. The ice rink is wheelchair-accessible with the addition of attachments that will allow the wheelchair to “skate” on the ice.
A team of ice marshalls from the Kilkenny Storm ice hockey club will be on hand to provide skating lessons, helmets will be provided free of charge and there will be complimentary skate aids for younger skaters.
Corporate packages including catering and group deals for schools, clubs and youth groups will be available, and this year also sees the introduction of themed party nights for adult skaters.
