County Kilkenny has been issued with a Status Orange weather alert by Met Eireann

ALERT: Kilkenny sport takes a hit as treacherous weather approaches

Met Éireann have issued a severe weather warning for rain for Kilkenny today (Sunday) As a result, Kilkenny sporting organisations have confirmed the postponement of a number of games and events.

GAA: All of Sunday's Kilkenny GAA action has been postponed.

Among the postponements are the St Canice's Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship Quarter-Finals that were scheduled for UPMC Nowlan Park between Erins Own and Mullinavat and the all city derby between O'Loughlin Gaels and Dicksboro.

Camogie: All games scheduled for Sunday locally have been postponed.

Soccer: All games in the Kilkenny & District League scheduled for Sunday have been postponed.

Rugby: Kilkenny's men and women's clashes in the Leinster Leagues have been postponed.

Athletics: All local events have been postponed.
