As I walked down the stairs of St Luke’s Hospital, in the early hours of the morning, following the death of my husband, and surrounded by my family, I realised what a great privilege it is for us to have the services of such a wonderful hospital on our doorstep.
My husband had been ill for only a few weeks, but the care and attention that he received during those weeks was excellent. At all times, the family were informed and the staff were always considerate in all their dealings with us.
The pallative care team who cared for him during his last days were wonderful and the visits of Sr Mary Foley asd Fr Carey gave us great comfort.
As I visited the hospital three and four times a day during those weeks and members of the family stayed there during the last few days, I realised just how fortunate we are not to have to travel great distances but to have these excellent facilities so close. A big thank you to St Luke’s.
