Youngest FF candidate in country to run in local elections in Kilkenny

Maria Wall FF Piltown

Maria Wall will run for Fianna Fáil in the Piltown local electoral area

This week Fianna Fáil finalised their ticket in the Piltown local electoral area selecting two new candidates to run for June’s local elections. Newcomers Maria Wall and Jenny Catt join incumbent Cllr Ger Frisby on the ticket.

New candidate Maria Wall, a 20-year-old farmer from Mooncoin, is the youngest Fianna Fáil candidate selected nationwide. Maria is currently in the final year of her BAgrSc Dairy Business degree in UCD. She aims to advocate for rural farming communities and to champion initiatives for affordable housing, improved transport, and better access to mental health support.

Maria said: “As a young person, I frequently notice that the concerns of my generation are often overlooked. That’s why I’m stepping up, I believe that it’s time that Kilkenny County Council has fresh perspective. I want to focus on improving the lives of people in south Kilkenny by working on initiatives that tackle our cost of living crisis and making essential services more accessible for all."
