Local Sinn Fein candidates call for extra Kilkenny bus services

Sinn Féin candidates; Evan Barry, Mark O’Farrell and Aoife O’Brien who are running in the Kilkenny City LEA have released a joint statement highlighting concerns for road users and pedestrians in the city.

Mark O’Farrell commented: "Any facility for pedestrians to safely cross the Ring Road has yet to be implemented, a perilous crossing that is often made by many of the people who live and work outside of the Ring Road."

Party colleague, Aoife O’Brien claimed additional bus links are required.

"Robertshill urgently needs to be added to the Kilkenny City link route. There are a large number of children, students and older  residents without direct access to public transport for school, work or medical appointments."

Evan Barry, added: "There was also a concern around the lack of bus services for estates near Kieran’s Cemetery with many residents forced to walk long distances."
