Scenes from the count at Lyrath Estate convention centre this afternoon
It's still early days, but it's looking increasingly like there will once again be a serious battle for the last three seats in Kilkenny City, with some tally figures still emerging.
Chief tallyman, Pat O'Neill predicts the new city area will elect three Fianna Fáil, and one Fine Gael councillor. With so many independent councillors in the city race their results, and indeed their transfers, are impossible to predict.
However, looking at the tally figures Mr O'Neill predicts the battle for the last city seat could be between Cllr Martin Brett (FG), the Green Party's Maria Dollard and Labour candidate Seán Ó hÁrgáin, who lost his seat in 2014 and is now back in the hunt.
