Kilkenny LEADER Partnership (KLP) is one of the 46 groups that have been selected to receive funding for local projects through the 2023-2027 LEADER programme.
Designed to empower local communities, the LEADER programme is a key part of the Government’s rural development strategy, Our Rural Future, which is co-funded by the EU.
It will support thousands of locally-led rural development and enterprise projects over the next four years.
As part of Stage 1 of the selection process, eligible groups were asked to submit expressions of interest to their Local Action Groups (LAGs).
Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys announced the details of the 46 successful applicant groups under the first stage of the programme last Thursday.
Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, the successful applicant, will now move on to Stage 2 which will see them develop their LEADER Local Development Strategies.
KLP are now actively organising consultations on the next LEADER Programme and want to hear your views with meetings to be held around the county (see below).

A €2 million fund has been allocated to assist with the costs associated with helping the successful applicants develop their strategies.
The funding has been welcomed by Carlow-Kilkenny TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor who stated that ‘funding streams like LEADER are hugely important for supporting rural communities and enterprises across the country’.
“This allocation of funding will allow the groups move onto the next stage of the process and will ultimately benefit local communities.”
Funding is currently delivered by 29 Local Action Groups (LAGs) in 28 sub-regional areas.
LAGs are responsible for local projects in accordance with the Local Development Strategies they develop themselves.
