Huge number of households facing termination of tenancy in Kilkenny

Kilkenny County Council recently confirmed to Kilkenny Live that 94 private tenancies have been facing termination of tenancy so far this year.

This number relates only to households who qualify for social housing supports.

Over 60 of these have been provided with or sourced alternative accommodation. The remaining households have live termination notices.

According to the Department of Housing, the most common reason for people presenting as homeless nationally in Q2 of this year was notice of termination (28.8%).

Kilkenny County Council are reminding anybody who has received a notice of termination and who has no alternative accommodation can contact their local authority.

Kilkenny County Council’s first response will be to try to prevent homelessness and to support households to find alternative accommodation.
