Co Kilkenny and the rest of the country has been basking in the sunshine this week, with temperatures as high as 29 degrees in localised areas.
The conditions have led to many locals slipping on the summer gear and heading to waterways, parks and other amenities in the city and county, but as people make their weekend sun plans, the public are being urged to behave safely in the potentially dangerous temperatures.
Met Eireann issued a Status Yellow High Temperature warning for Kilkenny and the rest of the country on Wednesday, valid until 8am on Saturday morning.
The warm weather could lead to heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and a risk of water-related incidents, Met Éireann said.
Temperatures in Co Kilkenny are forecast to reach 28 degrees this afternoon (Friday) but could hit highs of 30 degrees in certain areas.
The weekend is also expected to offer sunshine and soaring temperatures, with highs of 26 degrees forecast on Saturday.
