Gowran Park made history for their club as they claimed their second All-Ireland title in two weeks. The Kilkenny club won their first AIG Women’s Intermediate Cup title one week after winning the Revive Active Women’s Fourball.
Two sisters and a mother and daughter were on the winning team that overcame Portumna in the final.
Helena McCormack put the first point on the board for Gowran Park with a 7&6 win. She was quickly followed in by her teammate Aisling Costello who won her match on the 13th hole to give the team their second point.
On different parts of the course, Orla McCormack clinched a third point with a 3&2 win out in the first match while in the fifth match, Ashleigh Boote secured another point with a 5&4 win to secure glory for Gowran Park.
Team Captain, Sinead Kearney was delighted with her team as they claimed their first green pennant in the AIG Women’s Intermediate Cup at Westport Golf Club today.
“It’s just, I can't put it into words. We have a great, great group of girls. We’re a small club and we’re just so delighted,” said Kearney.
“They all played so well today and they’re a great bunch and we’re just going home tonight to Kilkenny, over the moon it's just brilliant.”
