Many projects benefitting from conservation grants in Kilkenny

Thatch Cottage, Cloneen, County Kilkenny

A large number of projects that have recently availed of conservation grant funding are now underway and/or working towards completion in Kilkenny.

Some of the projects already completed include the re-thatching of an 1800s cottage at Cloneen and the re-instatement of a water wheel to a mill in Mullinavat that hadn't worked since the 1960s.

There have also been a number of window and roof repairs conducted on other structures across the county.

The core aim of conservation grant funding is to enable large scale conservation works to be carried out on historic structures and encouraging their regeneration and re-use.

The grants also help support employment in the conservation and construction industries and build resilience in our historic structures.
